Rest, Reflect, Rejuvenate and Restore

All of us need to do these things on a regular basis.  If we don’t, we may run into various problems on many levels.  It can be dangerous not to do so.

As I was led to this topic this morning, the Holy Spirit reminded me of exactly how this habit started with me.  When we were very young, my mother would take my sister, Mona, and me on little trips to beaches along the northeast shores.  It gave us an opportunity to get away from the normalcy of life and just “be free.”  Those were some of the best times of my life and my great love of the beach has remained to this day.

When I was a child, I thought of it as a time to play and have a good time.  As an adult, I look at it as my time to do exactly as stated in the title.  It’s a time to rest, reflect, rejuvenate and restore.  Whenever I return from a trip to the beach, I always feel better, even if I was feeling pretty good before I left.

The last time I got away to the beach was a couple years ago when I went with a group of about 15 women from my church back in Raleigh.  We went, for three days, to one of the Wilmington beaches and had a ball.  I think it was Carolina Beach.  It was the perfect time to do these things mentioned here and, for me, it was the perfect location.  I’m overdue for a trip and I’m going to have to get away at some point this summer.

Whatever you choose to do for your personal time and wherever you choose to do it is up to you.  Just make a move to do it.  It may be the best thing you do for yourself and for those around you.
